The 2025 Best Cars for Families awards have officially recognized the top vehicles for family-friendly features, safety, reliability, and convenience across nine categories. After evaluating 100 vehicles, experts have identified the cars that offer the best blend of attributes essential for family life, according to a study conducted by the U.S. News & World Report, L.P.
Alex Kwanten, managing editor of Autos, noted, “Families have unique considerations when selecting a car, and the 2025 winners showcase models that meet those diverse needs, whether it’s a midsize sedan, a spacious SUV, or something in between.”
Honda and Kia led the way with two awards each. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid made history by earning the title of Best Hybrid SUV for Families for the sixth consecutive year and twelfth time overall. Hyundai’s Tucson continued its winning streak, securing the Best Compact SUV for Families award for the fourth year, while the Chrysler Pacifica remained a favorite, earning Best Minivan for Families for the second year in a row.
For the first time since 2022, Honda vehicles took home top honors, with the Honda Accord winning Best Midsize Car for Families and the Honda Accord Hybrid winning Best Hybrid Car for Families. Kia’s impressive lineup also featured the Telluride, which secured its sixth consecutive Best 3-Row Midsize SUV for Families award. A new winner, the Kia EV9, was named Best Electric Vehicle for Families, praised for its spacious and well-equipped cabin.
Among other first-time winners, the Jeep Wagoneer L was named Best Large SUV for Families, while the Mazda CX-70 earned Best 2-Row Midsize SUV for Families for its fuel efficiency, premium interior, and excellent safety ratings.
Winners were selected based on a composite score derived from safety data, reliability ratings, space, and the availability of family-friendly features such as wireless internet, teen driver controls, and automatic emergency braking.
