SAN FRANCISCO — March 22, 2025:
The iconic Twitter bird logo has found a new owner after being sold for $34,375 at an auction, marking a significant moment in the ongoing shift since Elon Musk took over the social media platform and rebranded it to X.
The 560-pound (254-kilogram) sign, which once graced the walls of Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, measures 12 feet by 9 feet (3.7 meters by 2.7 meters). The auction, held by RR Auction, which specializes in rare collectibles, saw the logo attract global interest. The buyer’s identity remains undisclosed.
This sale is just the latest in a series of auctions that Musk has organized, offering everything from corporate memorabilia and office items to rare tech history pieces.
The auction also featured other high-value tech items, including a first-generation Apple-1 computer, which sold for an impressive $375,000, a Steve Jobs-signed Apple check from 1976, which fetched $112,054, and a sealed first-generation iPhone that went for $87,514.
