WeRide Launches Commercial Robotaxi in Beijing

WeRide has launched its first commercial Robotaxi service in Beijing’s core urban area, marking a key step in the expansion of autonomous ride-hailing technology.

Beijing, China — March 13, 2025:

WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, has officially launched its commercial Robotaxi service in the heart of Beijing. This marks a significant step for the company, which has received approval to operate ride-hailing services between the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) and Beijing South Railway Station.

This expansion introduces the first commercial Robotaxi service within Beijing’s core urban area, extending WeRide’s operational reach to more than 600 square kilometers—approximately the combined size of the six main districts of downtown Shanghai. With the "WeRide Go" app, passengers can now easily book a Robotaxi with a single tap.

Beijing South Railway Station, a major hub for high-speed rail travel in Asia, serves over 150,000 passengers daily during peak periods. This approval to operate at one of China’s busiest transportation terminals underscores the reliability and safety of WeRide’s autonomous vehicles in complex, high-density environments involving both pedestrians and vehicles.

As the world’s first publicly listed Robotaxi company, WeRide has already established operations in nearly 10 cities globally, including Guangzhou, Abu Dhabi, Zurich, and Nanjing. In December 2024, the company launched the Middle East’s largest Robotaxi fleet in Abu Dhabi in partnership with Uber.

Looking ahead, WeRide plans to expand its service in Beijing and other cities worldwide, focusing on high-traffic locations like airports and railway stations, driving the global commercialization of Robotaxi technology.
