Vienna, Austria — April 14, 2025:

At the International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology (ICARST-2025), held from April 7 to 11 in Vienna, Austria, the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) presented its new vision for the global application of nuclear technology. This year, CNNC, along with its subsidiary China Isotope & Radiation Corporation (CIRC), led the largest national delegation at the conference.

The conference, hosted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), provided a platform for the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) to organize the “Radiation Technology for a Better Home” side event. This event, co-organized by CIRC and the China Isotope & Radiation Association (CIRA), attracted over 200 participants, underscoring China’s leadership in advancing the peaceful use of nuclear technology.

During his speech at the conference, representatives highlighted China’s commitment to fostering global cooperation in radiation science, pointing out how nuclear technology applications in China have flourished through the establishment of 15 nuclear technology R&D centers and industrial investments. With a market value approaching 300 billion yuan in 2024, nuclear technology is becoming an essential driver of economic and social development in sectors ranging from industrial inspection and agricultural breeding to medical health and irradiation processing.

Participants at the event praised China’s significant role in shaping the future of radiation technology, noting the country’s pivotal contributions to advancing international efforts. The IAEA affirmed its continued cooperation with China and other member states to enhance technological research, talent development, and international collaboration.

At the conference’s exhibition area, CNNC’s booth became the focal point for showcasing a full-scenario ecosystem of nuclear technology applications. The booth, centered around the theme of “Radiation Technology for a Better Home”, featured core exhibition zones dedicated to nuclear medicine, irradiation applications, and security inspection. Highlights included cutting-edge gamma knife systems, SPECT/CT equipment, and high-purity germanium spectrometers in the nuclear medicine zone. Additional exhibits, such as PE-Xc pipes, EB-irradiated panels, radiation detection chips, and robot dog models equipped with detection devices, demonstrated the wide-ranging potential of nuclear technology in various industries.

The ICARST-2025 conference marked a milestone in the global recognition of nuclear technology’s potential to address challenges in healthcare, security, and industrial development, with CNNC emerging as a leading force in shaping the future of radiation science and technology.
