BANGKOK, Thailand – April 12, 2025:
Following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar's Mandalay region on March 28, 2025, FAMSUN, a global agri-tech leader, launched an immediate and comprehensive recovery effort to restore vital animal feed production and safeguard the nation's critical food supply chain. The earthquake caused significant damage to key agricultural infrastructure, halting operations at major feed mills operated by industry leaders such as CP Group, New Hope, Sunjin, KSP Myanmar, and Diamond.
FAMSUN swiftly mobilized a specialized Joint Support Team of eight technical experts from its Southeast Asia regional hub. Despite facing logistical hurdles, including visa restrictions and travel challenges, the team reached Yangon and then proceeded to the Mandalay region to initiate restoration efforts. Within 48 hours of arriving on site, FAMSUN's engineers successfully restored stable production at four critical feed mills, addressing key equipment failures and ensuring the continued supply of animal feed to thousands of local farms.
"Their arrival brought not just technical skill, but also confidence and warmth," said Dr. Nay Thuyein, Chairman of the Myanmar Livestock Federation (Mandalay Branch). "FAMSUN's support during this critical time brings essential hope for recovery — not only for the people affected, but also for our industry as a whole."
In addition to the technical support, FAMSUN delivered much-needed humanitarian aid to impacted communities, providing medicine, food, drinking water, and financial assistance valued at over 40 million Myanmar Kyat (approximately $19,200 USD). This aid was distributed through local partners, including CECCM, MSCC, and the Myanmar Livestock Federation.
"This rapid response reflects our commitment not only to our partners, but also to the people and communities we serve," stated Jason Fan, Vice President of FAMSUN. "We remain dedicated to leveraging our global expertise to help strengthen the resilience of local industries and contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture across the region."
FAMSUN is continuing its recovery efforts by providing technical support and conducting inspections at more than ten additional project sites in other affected regions, including Taunggyi. This ongoing commitment underscores FAMSUN's dedication to ensuring food security and promoting sustainable growth across Southeast Asia.
