POOLER, Georgia, USA – April 29, 2025:
Hyundai Motor North America has announced a major step toward zero-emission freight transport with the launch of HTWO Energy Savannah, the industry's first dual-energy hydrogen and electric refueling station tailored for Class-8 heavy-duty vehicles. The announcement was made Monday at the 2025 Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Los Angeles.
The station will be strategically located in Pooler, Georgia—just 10 miles from the Port of Savannah, one of the United States' busiest freight corridors. The initiative is a collaboration between HTWO Logistics, HydroFleet, and Capital Development Partners, with operations slated to begin in late Fall 2025.
"HTWO Energy Savannah is a breakthrough for the heavy-duty trucking sector, offering rapid refueling for zero-emissions trucks at a single, strategically located hub," said Jim Park, Senior Vice President of Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Business at Hyundai Motor North America. "It’s a foundational part of our clean logistics vision, directly supporting our new EV manufacturing plant and its green supply chain."
The station will initially be capable of producing 1,200 kilograms of hydrogen per day, with infrastructure in place to scale up to 4,200 kilograms as demand grows. This volume will enable fast-fill fueling for an expanding fleet of hydrogen-powered Class-8 trucks operating in and out of Savannah’s busy port zone.
HydroFleet CEO Scott Moe hailed the project as a milestone for both sustainability and commercial transport. “This initiative addresses critical gaps in logistics infrastructure while placing Pooler at the center of the emerging hydrogen economy,” he said. “Our collaboration with Hyundai and HTWO Logistics sets the standard for sustainable freight.”
The initiative also garnered support from the Southeast Hydrogen Energy Alliance. Executive Director Des Carlisle emphasized the project’s regional significance: “HTWO Energy Savannah is the forward-thinking infrastructure the Southeast needs. It blends zero-emission innovation with energy resilience and scalability.”
Hyundai’s move aligns with its broader clean energy and transportation goals, as well as growing national and global momentum toward zero-emission commercial vehicle ecosystems. With HTWO Energy Savannah, Pooler and Savannah are poised to become vital hubs in the U.S. hydrogen economy.
