NEW YORK, NY, USA – April 18, 2025:
Korean AI transformation leader LG CNS is collaborating with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to bring advanced technologies and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT). LG CNS has already completed the installation of state-of-the-art EV chargers at BAT, developed in partnership with Boston-based startup Matcha, making sustainable transportation more accessible to New Yorkers through December 2025.
This initiative includes the development of a user-friendly mobile app providing real-time EV charging availability and other crucial urban mobility data. This marks the beginning of LG CNS's broader engagement with New York City, with a long-term vision focused on green energy and digital transformation.
Beyond EV infrastructure, LG CNS aims to help New York City become an IT leader by exploring innovations in artificial intelligence, smart surveillance, and data-driven urban solutions to enhance citywide efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The company also plans to install Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to stabilize the city's electricity market and support the transition to sustainable energy sources.
LG CNS will participate in NYCEDC's Pilots at BAT program, which allows companies to test and scale innovative technologies in real-world settings. The success of this program is leading to its expansion to NYCEDC’s MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park. This partnership follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2023 between Mayor Adams and LG CNS to encourage Korean investment in New York City. The NYCEDC Business Development Team facilitated LG CNS's entry into the NYC ecosystem.
