The Resolution Copper project in Arizona joins U.S. federal transparency initiative, marking a major step in securing domestic supplies of copper and critical minerals.

SUPERIOR, USA — April 20, 2025:
Resolution Copper has officially been named to the White House’s Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (FPISC) list of “transparency projects” for critical minerals, a move hailed by the company as a major advancement in the effort to secure domestic supplies of essential materials.
The designation is intended to improve transparency, accountability, and predictability in the permitting process for large-scale mining projects across the United States. As one of the nation’s most significant untapped copper resources, the Resolution project is viewed as a strategic asset in supporting U.S. energy security, industrial resilience, and clean technology development.
“We appreciate the federal government’s recognition of the vital role domestic copper production plays in strengthening national security, manufacturing, and economic sustainability,” said Vicky Peacey, General Manager of Resolution Copper.
In addition to copper, the mine's deposit contains at least seven other critical and strategic minerals—including indium, tellurium, bismuth, and rhenium—which are essential for use in semiconductors, renewable energy, aerospace, and defense applications.
“There is growing recognition of the urgent need to develop domestic sources of copper and other critical materials to support the nation’s energy and industrial base,” Peacey added. “We are committed to playing a constructive role in that effort and continuing our engagement in the national dialogue.”
The Resolution Copper project, located in Superior, Arizona, has the potential to become one of the largest copper mines in North America. It is expected to contribute up to $1 billion annually to Arizona’s economy and generate thousands of local jobs in a region with a rich mining heritage.
The company has emphasized its commitment to a collaborative and inclusive development process, shaped by more than a decade of consultation with Native American Tribes, local communities, and other stakeholders. These consultations have already led to substantial changes in the mining plan to better address cultural, environmental, and social concerns.
“We remain committed to a respectful and transparent process that incorporates meaningful input from Tribal Nations and community members,” Peacey said. “Our participation in the federal transparency initiative will further ensure public access to project information and uphold the highest standards of environmental and cultural stewardship.”
With its inclusion in the federal transparency framework, Resolution Copper is now positioned to help the U.S. meet growing demand for critical minerals while maintaining strong commitments to sustainability, responsible development, and local partnership.
