HEFEI, China — April 15, 2025:
Sungrow, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, has launched its most advanced innovation to date—the 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter—at the Global Renewable Energy Summit 2025. Designed for utility-scale solar applications, this next-generation inverter fuses cutting-edge AI diagnostics, superior thermal durability, and pioneering grid-forming technology into a compact, scalable solution.
Each 800kW unit of the 1+X 2.0 can be combined in parallel up to 9.6MW, offering unmatched modularity for diverse solar deployments. The inverter's split architecture allows for isolated, quick-swap modules, reducing O&M time to just one hour and significantly cutting downtime.
Engineered to thrive in extreme climates, especially regions like the Middle East, the 1+X 2.0 maintains full performance without derating even at 52°C. Its robust IP66 enclosure, dual-cycle thermal system, and high-efficiency heat exchangers ensure stability and long-term operation under intense environmental stress.
Safety is revolutionized with a holistic AI-driven DC-side management system, addressing the top source of PV system risks. With dual arc fault protection that reacts in 40 milliseconds and real-time terminal overheating detection, the system proactively shuts down affected circuits, preventing fire hazards before they start.
The inverter also introduces Sungrow’s advanced grid-forming capabilities, enabling it to stabilize frequency within five milliseconds and endure up to 1.8 times rated voltage. This makes it ideal for both strong and weak grid environments and even allows for the creation of standalone microgrids during construction—eliminating the need for diesel backup and accelerating project commissioning. In one recent 1GW project in the Middle East, this technology enabled early grid connection by 30 days, generating $2.9 million in additional revenue.
Compatible with both DC- and AC-coupled solar-plus-storage systems, the 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter enhances energy efficiency by up to 5% and reduces initial investment costs by over 10% compared to traditional systems. With advanced communication protocols and flexible medium voltage integration, Sungrow estimates potential savings of $7.41 million for a 1GW-scale installation.
“The 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter is a breakthrough for the utility-scale solar industry,” said Lee Zhang, Vice President of Sungrow. “It delivers a powerful combination of reliability, intelligence, and sustainability—empowering our partners to accelerate the global energy transition.”
With the 1+X 2.0, Sungrow reaffirms its leadership in shaping the future of solar energy, offering a solution that delivers efficiency, resilience, and smarter energy for the modern world.
