San Diego, California — April 9, 2025:
UC San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering has officially renamed its Chemical and Nano Engineering Department to the Aiiso Yufeng Li Family Department of Chemical and Nano Engineering, a tribute to the transformative contributions of Aiiso Yufeng Li (Jeff), his wife Doreen Guo, and the CorDx family. The renaming comes after a significant $21 million donation in 2024 by Li, which has greatly supported research, education, and innovation at UC San Diego.
Li’s gift is just one part of his extensive philanthropic efforts to advance technological progress. His contributions have not only benefited the department but also supported initiatives like the Sustainable Power and Energy Center (SPEC) and the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur (IGE). His generosity empowers students and researchers to push the boundaries of discovery and innovation in chemical and nano engineering.
In his remarks, Li emphasized the importance of investing in the next generation, saying, “Technology moves at the speed of talent. That’s why I chose to support UC San Diego’s Chemical and Nano Engineering program—to help shape the future of innovation by empowering the minds that will drive it forward.”
Aiiso Yufeng Li is also the founder of CorDx, a biotechnology company specializing in the development of rapid diagnostic products for various health categories, including infectious disease, reproductive health, and substance abuse. The company’s vertically integrated supply chain and commitment to high-quality, affordable diagnostic solutions reflect Li's broader vision for technological and healthcare advancement.
This renaming ceremony marks a pivotal moment for UC San Diego, reinforcing the vital role of philanthropy in fostering cutting-edge research and training the next generation of engineers and innovators. The Aiiso Yufeng Li Family Department of Chemical and Nano Engineering will continue to be a hub for groundbreaking research in the ever-evolving fields of chemical and nano engineering, contributing to solutions that impact industries and improve lives globally.
