Washington, USA — April 4, 2025:
The White House has dismissed reports suggesting that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is set to resign from his government position. Citing unnamed sources, Politico and ABC News reported on Wednesday that President Donald Trump had privately informed close aides of Musk’s impending departure, reads a DW/KK post.
However, White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt strongly refuted the claims, calling them “garbage.” She emphasized that both Musk and President Trump have publicly stated that the Tesla founder will remain in his role as head of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) until his work is complete.
Musk was appointed to lead DOGE, a department tasked with reducing federal government spending. Reports indicate that tensions have arisen among Trump’s senior advisers over Musk’s approach to the role.
Addressing the speculation, Leavitt reaffirmed that Musk will leave his government post only after concluding his “incredible work” at DOGE. Trump had previously acknowledged Musk’s eventual return to his business ventures, stating, “I think he’s wonderful. But he has to run a big company. He’ll go back there at some point.”
